Kamal was nominated through Rushmoor Voluntary Services and by many from the Nepslese community that he he give so much to. He lives in Eastleigh but Co-founder the charity Maddhat Shamuha which translates as Nepalese Help, in Aldershot and Farnborough in 2008. After 17 years of service as a Gurkha, Kamal was invalidated out of the British Army due to injury resulting in several operations on his spine and development of the bone marrow disease, aplastic anaemia. Tragically he then contracted tuberculosis. He was treated in numerous hospital in the UK. After he had convalesced he went to work at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester.
Kamal is the most committed unpaid Social worker i have ever met in my experiences as a past Borough and County Councillor. He struggles financially himself because he give so much to the community. Hundreds of Nepalese families in the area all benefit from Kamal's help in trying to get them settled in the UK. He will help with education and improving language skills as well as social welfare issues.
